City of Fairfield offices will be closed for Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4

Throughout the year, the Parks and Recreation Department organizes a variety of community events and activities.

Blood Drives
To ensure that adequate blood supplies are readily on hand for any emergency, the Community Blood Center, the Fairfield Fire Department and the Parks and Recreation Department sponsor periodic community blood drives at the Fire Headquarters (375 Nilles Road) and the Community Arts Center (411 Wessel Drive).

Fairfield Lane Library Events on the Green

The Fairfield Lane Public Library, in conjunction with Fairfield Parks & Recreation, offers a series of programs and activities for families all summer.

Fine Art Fair
Artists from all over the region migrate to Fairfield to offer their finest work. Participating artists are set up throughout Village Green Park and inside the Community Arts Center to display and sell their work. Live music, food, and family activities round out this annual event.

Groovin on the Green
Bring your blanket or lawn chairs every Thursday evening and enjoy the concerts at Village Green Park. Every musical taste is satisfied in this summer-long series (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) in Village Green Park.

Groovin' Grill
The Community Room and Balcony at the Community Arts Center offers a cash bar and summer fare during all of the Thursday night Groovin' on the Green Concerts. Click here for a complete schedule and details.

Light Up Fairfield
Ring in the holiday season in with Light Up Fairfield at Village Green Park, the Community Arts Center, the Fairfield Lane Library, and the Waterford. Families can enjoy visits with Santa, kids' crafts, wagon rides, the Festival of Trees, and much more! Be sure to help Santa light the big tree and all of Village Green.

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
The Annual Memorial Day Parade features veterans groups, military units, the Fairfield High School Marching Band, community groups and organizations, the Fairfield Police Department, and Fairfield Fire and EMS units. The parade concludes at Veterans Memorial Parks with a brief ceremony to pay tribute to our veterans, both past and present.

Movies in the Park
A different movie is featured on select Fridays nights from May through September in Village Green Park. Before the movie starts at dusk, The Fairfield Fire Department offers pre-show fun for the entire family.

Red, White and Kaboom
Fairfield’s annual Independence Day celebration on July 3 includes festivities at Harbin Park, the launch site for Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, at Village Green Park, and at the Fairfield Aquatic Center. 

Swingin' on the Green
Swingin' on the Green features the sounds of Jazz and Swing. The series runs on the third Monday of June, July, and August in Village Green Park.

Touch a Truck
On the 2nd Friday in August, kids young and old can touch, explore, and climb on the many vehicles that are on display outside the Community Arts Center. Don't miss your chance to explore a fire truck, police car, construction truck, snowplow, and other vehicles of all shapes and sizes.

Village Green Car Show
Classic and antique cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more are display around the Village Green campus. Live music is featured on the amphitheater stage and food is available for purchase.

Village Green Farmers Market
Wednesdays, 4 - 7 PM, May 3 - October 18
Foodies can shop for locally-grown produce, meat, baked goods, allergy-friendly foods, eggs, handcrafted artisan goods, and more!
